How To Set a Diamond

Diamond is undeniably the most popular gemstone chosen for setting into an engagement ring, and such is the complexity behind this procedure that I feel it deserves a mention.

There are many different settings that can hold a diamond, whether it be a more traditional clawed arrangement or the relatively modern tension or rub over settings. The setter primarily has to make sure that the setting chosen for the diamond will hold it for the life of the ring and also to cause as little stress to the structure of the ring, and most importantly the mount, improper setting can drastically reduce the life of the ring. It can also increase the possibility of the diamond falling out of the setting.

Experts in all things diamonds Samara James show here how to set it correctly.
